Herbal Shampoo
Herbs are often found in commercial shampoos, rinses and conditioners,
and it's fairly easy to make yourself. Rosemary, sage, parsley, mullein,
stinging nettle are herbs that can be used to condition and beautify your
hair. But before you try any home made conditioners, place a small amount of
the mixture on the inside of your arm, and wait 24 hours, if you get any
allergic reaction, then don't use it.
Herbal Oil Conditioning
- 1/2 cup dried chamomile flowers
- 1/2 cup dried rosemary leaves
- 1 cup safflower oil
Heat the herbs and oil in the top of a double boiler for about 40 minutes.
Pour into a wide mouth jar and cover with a couple of layers of muslin, tied
with a string. Let stand in a warm place for a week. Stir every day. Strain
into a clean container.
Warm 1/3 cup of the oil for a few minutes, wet your hair with warm water.
Massage the warm oil through your hair with your fingers. Cover hair with a
plastic bag, then a use a towel wrapped around the plastic covering. Leave
in for 15 min, then shampoo your hair at least twice to get all the oil.
